The January '09 issue of ANTIGRAVITY will be out this Thursday or Friday. This is my first issue as a full "staff writer" for AG and they gave me a bunch of pages to work with. Heck, they even gave me the cover. What were they thinking?
If you'd like a preview of what's coming up, you can view a PDF of the issue at this link:
Get down!
For my first cover story, I interviewed the all-new line-up of FACE FIRST (featuring Kevin from Antarctica vs. the World and Bobby from PARANOIZE). They'll be making their debut in January and it's going to be pleasantly hellish.
This issue also marks the debut of "Anti News", which I'll be writing a large portion of every month. For January, I did short interviews with the following local bands:
Angry Banana Meadow Flow Isabella In Tomorrows Shadow Further Reasoning Miles and Minutes Black Belt Sick Like Sinatra
There's also an interview with Billy from We Are The Living, who's putting out a comp. called A Compilation Like No Other. I also did a short write-up on Fucked Up coming to NOLA.
I might have lost a little sleep on some of this.
Anyway, that's "month one." We're going to be throwing a similar ho-down every month. If your band's got something going on, you gotta let me know about it ahead of time.
We're going to start working on the February issue next week. My deadline is January 20th, so if your band has something awesome coming up in February, let me know: brett@antigravitymagazine.com

I modified the list slightly. I didn't change any of the Metairie locations, but I did change a couple of uptown, northshore, and French Quarter listings.
We've had some trouble getting copies out to the Quarter this weekend, first because of the Sugar Bowl and then because of the flooding last night.
They are, however, available at all of the other places on the list, plus a bunch of others I neglected to mention (Pal's and Witt's Inn in Mid-City come to mind).

Copies will also be available from now on at the Hot Topic in Lakeside Mall. I believe they may still have a few copies. Enter at your own risk.

I don't get that band Fucked Up. I read some review that said something like, "picking up where Refused left off, Fucked Up is taking hardcore to new places." If by "new places" they mean somewhere long, boring, and unlistenable, then I guess they're right.
Brett, I saw you jazzercising down Desoto the other day. All in black. Looking good friend.

Thanks. I figure that people who stay in shape are more likely to get presents.
